I don't know if it's because he's the middle child (like me) or what, but it is hard to put things about Wallace in writing. He is something else, that's for sure! This year with him has been busy, exhausting, hilarious, scary, frustrating, and so very fun.
He's a great sleeper - in his own bed (because he kept jumping out of his crib a few months ago) - with blue stuffed "Bunny, (previously Georgia, doggy, and a book too)" from 7-7 most nights. Just in the last couple weeks has he started coming downstairs on his own around 7 am and crawling into our bed. It's pretty sweet.
He's not the best eater - loves anything with sugar in it. Chocolate bars, ice cream sandwiches, froot loops, cookies, gummy bears, diet coke, and candy are his faves. He also likes peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, mac and cheese, ABCs, turkey sausage links, pancakes, eggs, strawberries, grapes, oranges, bananas, chicken nuggets, pizza, and spaghetti.
Wallace loves playing his piano, basketball, jumping on the trampoline, cutting with scissors, lighting and blowing out candles, climbing on everything, and jamming to his car head phones singing Bible songs.
I admit it - I am a sucker for all of his mischief, and that sweet smile melts me. He talks to us like an adult, and so many of his phrases crack me up.
"Oh my gosh" and "what the heck" are a few of his faves that he would just yell from his crib. One day, a man from Arrow exterminators came to our house while I was in Woods' room rocking him for a nap. Without hesitation, Wallace opened the door for him and told him "Mommy is rocking Woods." Thank God the Arrow man was a good honest dude who waited until I came out and said "your 2 old told me you were walking in the woods."
Wallace, we are so incredibly thankful for your sweet little self!
We potty trained you in May, and you caught onto it very quickly. You love singing songs and doing crafts. "Hush little baby" is your fave at bedtime. "Blanket on" and "lay down just a couple more minutes" are your bedtime requests.
You copy everything Wilson does, and it's so stinking sweet. You made coffee with our Keurig one day in June. You're a genius.
You still drink your "bah bah" every night at bedtime. You don't miss anything. Your teachers and I joke about how we can quietly sneak a piece of gum, and you immediately ask "what's in your mouth?"
"What you say, Mommy?"
"let me talk!"
"What's your middle name"
"Tell me a story"
You are hilarious, Wallace! Thank you, Lord, for this precious 3 year old who keeps us on our toes! We are forever thankful for his little life. I pray that God will use his life for His glory. That strong willed little critter could do some good for His kingdom.
Baby Woods is almost 15 months old! Somehow we ended up having his 15 month well check a week or so early so I already have his stats.
Weight: 23 lb 6 oz, 62%
Height: 31.75 in., 76%
Head Circ: 47.6 cm, 74%
I think he's our tallest baby, the one trait he gets from his daddy ; )
Woods, your personality is coming all out now, and it is amazing. You do the silliest things to get our attention, and you really are hilarious. Just today, I have noticed you waving more, to your teachers at school and to anybody else we see. You also clap, and it's adorbs.
You have a few words now, too:
You have said "ma ma" but it's not regular yet
Jump (when you see the trampoline)
Spi (for the inflatable spider in the front yard)
You squeal and go nuts when Gigi walks in the room! You LOVE her! When I tell you to stomp, you stomp one foot on the ground. I think that came from singing if you're happy and you know it!
You love to eat squeezes, and you help yourself to them in the pantry often. You also love fruit - grapes, strawberries, blueberries, oranges, bananas. Mac and cheese, yogurt, green beans, pizza, french fries, grilled cheese, spaghetti - those are your other faves.
You know what you want, and you're gonna find a way to get it!
You turned 5 years old a month and a half ago. I can hardly believe it. You REALLY are growing up so fast. Over the last month or so, you have gained so much confidence, and it has been amazing to see. You started 4K at a new school, Oakbrook, and you have made lots of new friends. You come home every day telling us all about your day. Last school year, it was like pulling teeth to get you to tell us ANYTHING that happened at school. Now you have stories for everything, and we love it. Tonight, for example, you said "my coach at school wears those rings on her ears. Does that mean she's a girl? She has curly hair like Wallace." This was referring to your PE teacher who is a female.
When we ask what you want to be when you grow up, it's a T rex or cement truck driver in the past. Your current plan is to be "the Icee man at Target, and it would never be closed!" This new career path developed after one trip to Target when the concession/Icee area was closed. It was a crisis.
Until about 2 months ago, I would have said you were a truly anxious kid. Honestly, though, now I feel like that is one huge prayer the Lord has answered. You definitely get very upset if plans change, but your anxiety has improved for sure. You also previously HATED group pictures, but you took your soccer pictures like a boss last week - team ones and individual. I'm telling you - it's like you're a whole new kid over the last few weeks.
You did ask me one night at bedtime "What will happen if my heart stops beeping in my belly?" That one took some time to answer.
You do NOT like group performances. Or at least you didn't when you had your 4K spring fair at FBS. You shyly turn around, don't sing, and cling to your teacher.
You have an enormous helper/servant heart. You love to help us go to Ingles and carry in groceries.
You LOVE super heroes. You tend to hit/tackle Wallace, and you'll kiss Woodsie anytime we ask. You're a great big brother and have truly become super helpful. You carry Woods' backpack out for me when you're with me at school pick up, and you dress yourself completely for school.
My daddy had a hip replacement surgery back in June, and it was so cute when you asked "Is Papa gonna be able to chase me around tomorrow with his new hip?" You sure do love your grandparents, and I'm so thankful that you have such a good relationship with them. You OWN your Gigi. She picks you up from school on Tuesdays, and you can always convince her to take you to McDonald's for a happy meal. I'm pretty sure it's the highlight of your week.
"What if the Disney world ship gets a hole in it?" - in reference to us discussing a potential Disney cruise in the future. We'll hold off on that for now.
5 year Stats:
Weight: 41 lb, 6 oz 52%
Height: 3 ft, 6.5 in., 36%
BMI 71%?? 16.10
You love playing outside, and we spend lost of time out there. You learned how to swim this summer (again - you almost had it last summer), you can write your name, and you seem ready to start reading soon. We are so glad we made the decision to let you be one of the OLDEST kids in your class instead of the youngest. You seem to like being a leader, and we are thankful for that.
Our prayer for you is that you will learn about Jesus and ask him to be your Savior at an early age. We pray for you to have good friends and to be a good friend. We ask God to bless you with an amazing wife some day. We thank Him for your health, and we ask for your happiness. Wilson, we love you more than you will ever know, even when you have a meltdown while brushing your teeth at night because you are completely exhausted. Thank you for loving us, and thank you, Lord, for letting us be Wilson's earthly parents.
What a fast, amazing year it has been! Baby Woods, you are 12 months old (a couple weeks ago). I can't imagine our family without you in it. This year has been challenging for us - physically, emotionally, and all the other ways - but you are the the most wonderful gift from God to complete our family. You are such a great baby (toddler now I guess technically since you walk). The first few months were rough with some reflux issues and then lots of ear infections in the months to follow, but overall, you're a great sleeper, and you roll with our family chaos so well.
12 Month Stats:
Weight: 22 lbs, 62%
Length: 31 in., 91% (tall like your daddy!)
Head Circ: 47 cm, 76%
You took your first 2 steps at Bibi's house on July 13, and you quickly became a walker! You will still crawl on a rare occasion, but you can walk, climb stairs, and step over things as you please. You're tough as nails, which is a blessing because your big brothers think you are as big as they are.
You LOVE fruit of any kind, but blueberries are your fave. You also love GoGo Squeezes and a sippy straw cup with water. You will drink warm milk from a bottle, but you're really okay without it, too. I still give you one at bedtime.
You love to play chase and be silly. Your favorite book is "Smile, Pout Pout Fish," and you demand that I turn the lamp on and read you some books when you wake up in the morning or from a nap. You soothe yourself to sleep while chewing on your sleep sack, and it's adorable. You laugh like crazy at Wilson when he does silly things.
Your curly blonde hair and bright blue eyes own me. You have 6 teeth and a sweet, sweet smile. You love animals, but don't get any ideas. There's no time for a pet around here. Your favorite toys are cooking utensils and steering wheels.
Woods, my prayer is for you to grow to be brave, honest, and a true follower of Christ. I pray that we can raise you in a way that honors Him and that you will have a great relationship with us and with your brothers. We love you so very much!!!
Baby Woods!!! You are 11 months old!!! Wow! You cruise all around the room using anything you can, and your clap your hands when we cheer for you or show happiness about anything. I love seeing your little face so full of joy!
You wave to everybody, and you point to things you want. In the mornings, after you drink your bottle, you point to your lamp asking for the light to come on and to read books.
You have said "mama," "dada," and "cracka." You smack your lips to be funny, and it cracks us all up.
You love bread and fruit, especially blueberries, strawberries, and oranges. You also love a straw cup and peanut butter and jelly sandwiches.
You are getting cuter and cuter by the second, and your 5th tooth has popped through.
I could just eat you up at this super adorable age. You're into everything, but I wouldn't trade the messes for anything.
The Lord has blessed us more than we deserve by giving us you, sweet baby Woods!!!
